D Thomas Cummings
Chief Executive Officer, Agent and Advisor
D. Thomas’ career in banking and insurance spans over 20 years. In banking and finance he was an Assistant Vice President and Banking Officer for multiple Fortune 100 banks in the Atlanta, GA market and later served as a Vice President at a community bank headquartered in Palm Beach Florida. During the peak of his career, D. Thomas consistently ranked in the top tier, and was selected as a management MVP for navigating his clients through one of the most tumultuous times in American financial history; the Great Recession.
After banking, D. Thomas used his experience to play a role in national security investigations for the Federal Investigative Services Division of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management as a Special Investigator before venturing into the insurance industry. In that capacity, his company had an emphasis on risk management, catastrophe, and complex claims handling. He found great success assisting large carriers like State Farm, Allstate, and Liberty Mutual with their overflow claims handling, and triaging major volume through various catastrophic events. He extended these partnerships nationally, being licensed in more than 15 states and operating in over 30 states while playing a critical role in that business sector.
From the success garnered through business, he expanded his portfolio as a professional real estate investor through a company called Sun Palm Ventures and became an expert in “hard asset management” by adding multiple income producing properties to his collection. He continued to expand his licensing into further areas of finance and wealth management and personally benefited from this knowledge. As CEO of Sun Palm Financial, his goal is to help people invest, grow, and protect their assets, and retire with confidence.
D. Thomas holds a Bachelors of Science in business and communications from Liberty University, a Master of Science from American Public University outside of Washington DC, and has completed his executive education with a Certificate in Financial Accounting through the Harvard Business School.
D.Thomas is registered with the Florida Department of Financial Services and the Florida Department of Insurance and holds multiple licenses and professional designations.
D. Thomas served his country in the historic 29th Light Infantry Division and the 1st Battalion 20th Special Forces Group. He is the great, great grandson of civil war cavalry legend Col William G. Cummings of the 1st Vermont Cavalry Division who rode to fame with General Custer and was a pioneer of the U.S. coal industry.
Sandra Liliana Cummings
Chief Operating Officer, Agent and Advisor
Sandra Liliana began her career in banking and finance in 2001 in mortgage and credit where she was consistently recognized as a top performer. She was quickly promoted into retail banking management where she spent the next several years working for Fortune 100 banks. At the height of her career in retail management, she oversaw the full operational control of the largest bank branch in Atlanta overseeing a team of seventeen financial representatives and tellers, while coordinating a large staff of in-house personnel in various lines of business, including, lenders, and wealth management representatives. Sandra oversaw operational control of over two hundred million in assets under management. Sandra later ventured into private consulting with her husband D. Thomas on catastrophe and overflow claims management for large insurance carriers such as State Farm, and Nationwide Insurance, to name a few. After garnering much success, she co-invested in real estate ventures before becoming a founding partner and Chief Operating Officer at Sun Palm Financial.
Sandra obtained her bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University’s John D. Macarthur Campus in Jupiter, Florida at the nationally-ranked Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College. Sandra was accepted as a member of multiple honor societies during her tenure. She is completing the coursework for her Master’s degree at American Public University. In addition, she has received extensive top-tiered corporate education in finance, operations, and management through her banking career. Sandra holds multiple professional designations including her CA (Certified Adjuster) designation, and she is licensed with the Florida Department of Financial Regulation and the Florida Department of Insurance. Born in Colombia, she is a “native” speaker in Spanish and fluent in English.
Charity
Sun Palm Financial’s officers are involved in giving to local charity organizations like Goodwill Industries, the Salvation Army, and veteran’s groups, as well as humanitarian aid organizations such as Compassion International where the company officers financially support multiple children in impoverished countries. D. Thomas also stepped in to donate to the most unprecedented emergency operation in modern history when he and several in his network contributed to the Nazarene Fund which raised over 30 million in 3 days to successfully rescue and relocate over 12,000 at-risk individuals and families after the fall of Afghanistan.
